When it comes to securing pallet loads, choosing the right stretch wrap for your products can be confusing with the number of options on the market. At TAB Wrapper, we’ve developed and tested stretch films that perform under the toughest conditions for pallet loads. Whether you’re wrapping sharp-edged metal parts in an oil field or organizing pallets in a cold storage facility, choosing the right stretch wrap makes all the difference in protecting your product.

We’ll walk you through the stretch wrap options, explain the key benefits of each, and help you identify which film is best suited to your industry.

The Stretch Wraps TAB Wrapper Offers

Cast Stretch Wrap (Clear)

What it is: Cast stretch wrap is our primary film type, manufactured using a cast extrusion process. The film is squeezed out on a flat roller, creating a quiet unwind that’s ideal for high-volume operations. Unlike blown wrap (which is noisier and produced in a tube), cast film offers superior clarity and consistent performance.

Typical uses:

  • Unitizing pallets for shipping and storage
  • Stabilizing cartons and boxes
  • General warehousing and distribution
  • E-commerce fulfillment operations

Our clear cast stretch wrap is available in multiple gauges, from our 65-gauge TWT-2080 Standard Wrap (which performs like an 80-gauge) to our heavy-duty 90-gauge TWT-20120 (with 120-gauge performance).

One-Sided Cling Cast Stretch Wrap

What it is: This specialized film is designed to adhere to the load while reducing external cling. The result? Pallets won’t stick to each other during storage, handling, or transport.

Typical uses:

  • High-density warehouse storage where pallets are stored close together
  • Distribution centers with tight staging areas
  • Operations where pallets are frequently moved and repositioned
  • Beverage and bottling distribution

The one-sided cling feature prevents the frustration of pallets sticking to one another, saving time and reducing handling issues for your staff.

Colored Cast Stretch Wrap

What it is: Colored stretch wrap offers all the same protective functions as clear film, with the added benefits of visual identification, security, and branding. TAB Wrapper stocks blue and black stretch wrap, with custom colors available upon request.

Typical uses:

  • Color-coding pallets by SKU, destination, or customer
  • Theft deterrence and tamper evidence (if the wrap is cut and rewrapped with a clear stretch wrap, it’s immediately visible)
  • Construction sites where crews need to quickly identify which pallets belong to them

Custom branding is also available, featuring your company logo, phone number, and website address for a polished, professional look.

Specialty and Performance Options

TAB Wrapper also offers specialty films designed for demanding applications:

Cold Performance Film (TWT-2080 CF): Standard stretch wrap can lose its cling and stretch properties in cold environments. Our Cold Film is specifically engineered to maintain superior adhesion in freezing temperatures and dusty conditions, making it ideal for cold storage warehouses, frozen food distribution, and refrigerated facilities.

High Puncture and Tear Resistance: Our TWT-20120 Heavy Duty wrap won’t tear on sharp edges or heavy loads. With a 90-gauge thickness that performs like a 120-gauge film, it’s the top choice for oil and gas operations, sheet metal manufacturing, and metal fabrication.

Heavy Duty Ribbed (Power Bands Technology): For awkward, hard-to-wrap loads, our TWT-20120 Heavy Duty Ribbed features Power Bands technology. This film applies extreme force to secure finished products like carts, bulk building products, and other difficult-to-stabilize loads.

Orbital Wrapping-Optimized Rolls: All TAB stretch wraps are designed specifically for use with our TAB Wrapper Tornado orbital wrapping machines, ensuring optimal performance with our high-speed, 360-degree wrapping system.

What Are the Benefits of Stretch Wrap?

Why choose stretch wrap over other pallet securing methods like banding? Here are the key advantages:

Product Protection: Wrap provides a barrier against dust, scuffs, and light moisture exposure, maintaining product quality throughout the supply chain. Paired with our orbital TAB Wrapper Tornados, it provides complete 360-degree coverage for your pallet load, providing the ultimate protection.

Efficiency: Stretch wrapping is faster than manual strapping or banding, reducing palletizing time and eliminating rework from poorly secured loads.

Cost Control: Using the right film gauge for your application means you’re not over-wrapping or wasting material. Our films deliver superior containment strength at thinner gauges, reducing material costs.

Inventory Visibility and Scanning: Clear stretch wrap allows for easy barcode scanning and visual inventory checks without unwrapping pallets.

OSHA Compliance: OSHA requires all stored, stacked, or transported materials to be secured to prevent sliding, falling, or collapsing (29 CFR 1910.176(b) and 1926.250(a)(1)). For loads over 5 feet, which are inherently less stable during forklift travel, stretch wrap, banding, or strapping is the standard method to meet these safety compliance requirements. Stretch wrap is more affordable than banding and meets compliance requirements.
