Last year, we broke our record for TAB Wrapper Tornado orbital wrapping system sales (thank you!). More and more people in metal fabricating, powder coating, and OEM manufacturing are using them, seeing them in other plants, receiving neatly wrapped pallet loads, and realizing manual pallet wrapping is no longer a viable option when there’s a better way at such a reasonable cost. Total orbital wrapper units delivered in 2021 versus 2020 was up 43 percent and I’m happy to report our orbital wrapper is becoming known as the standard best practice in metalworking. Why the jump in orders?

It’s become trendy to thank people for showing up to work. That’s how far we’ve gone in America. From talking at length to almost everyone who purchased a TAB Wrapper Tornado, I’d say the most common issue among our industrial customers involves staffing. Good people are too valuable to divert their time to stretch wrapping pallets and to put them at risk of cuts and injuries when you can buy an automated orbital wrapping machine and manage the whole packaging process with one person instead of three. Interest in automation has definitely been a key factor driving interest in our line of pallet wrappers. The range of options from semi-automated to fully automated has also been a factor.

Many of our recent customers have also said quick delivery was a key factor in the decision to order. We’re able to deliver with reasonable and predictable lead times because we manufacture every TAB Wrapper Tornado in our Reading, PA headquarters. Upwards of 90 percent of the parts are either manufactured in-house or otherwise Made in USA. With this supply chain dependability, we’ve been able to keep our production line going without many of the missing part snafus that have been strangling a lot of manufacturers.

We won’t know for sure about the totals for 2022 for a while, but we’re projecting similar results with another big increase in our Smart Controls wrapping units. These stretch wrapping machines were up 100 percent in units delivered in 2021 versus 2020. With Smart Controls, a single operator can manage the entire wrapping function by remote control and cut the time per pallet wrap from five minutes to 30 seconds or less in a typical metals application.
